It opens to satisfy negative pressures in the plumbing drain system and can be used as a secondary vent alternative to a vent extended to the roof outside.

The 1-1/2-inch TUUBER Air Admittance Valve features 1-1/2" NPT Threads and fits 1-1/2-inch piping, with two seals for superior sealing capability and a triple flow passage that is ultra-sensitive to pressure changes. It automatically opens on system vacuum pressure to allow air in and closes by gravity with dual seal protection capability.
